What after Skype?

I have had Skype for some years now. It is currently the only telephone I have. I have about three weeks to install a replacement. MS says "Teams", which is not telephonic at all, and not what Skype was intended to be. I want low-cost VOiP that will provide me with international voice and text (SMS is OK) communication, what Skype would now be if MS gave a damn and were not interested only in snapchatting. What is the closest to that I can get?
