Not tried any others as it cropped up when the new 16.2 indesign dropped in the week.

Looks like 16.2.1 InDesign is now out in the wild with this problem still happening, I presume this will be fixed in an upcoming release? Current advice is to roll back to 16.1 |
I've filed this as CEP-2384 |
Engineering has closed that bug, and reports that the XMP fix will be in Illustrator 25.3 and InDesign 16.3. |

Since 16.2 was released it is no longer possible to get an addon to work correctly that uses the XMP mechanism provided in the XMPSamplePanel.
Proposed solution or attempted solutions that failed
Unknown as making any csInterface.evalScript call fails once the XmpSamplePanel.jsx code is loaded.
