Generate monthly water quality reports to download

Oscar, the water system manager in Moroceli would like to see weekly or bi weekly averages to generate a report. The first step here is to create a mockup report to show to Oscar and W+J so they can point out what's necessary and what's not. Then, we can automate the report creation by having the static website hit a Google scripts execution api that fetches and composes data from Fusion Tables, and then injects the data into a google doc that is then brought back to the original caller for download. That doc should also be saved in the drive for future requests of the same time period.

An alternative method would be to automate (using Google Scripts) the sending of such a doc to the Water Board member's personal emails every month or so.

@jonschristensen @wngrimshaw could either of you post here a small sketch/example of the type of report you are wanting us to generate? Just something to give us the gist of what Oscar wants.

Here's an example of the reports we've been generating semi-manually for the past year, using the data from the test message system. I haven't done much follow-up with water board leaders about the formatting of these, but will make sure to do that now, since they may not be understanding or using the graphs I was including.

I spoke with the operators and manager of the water system in Moroceli about useful monthly reports. In the operation summary, they would like to add minimum, average, and maximum for chlorine dose, even though it doesn't change too much during the month. They would like to add a monthly total of the amount of coagulant and chlorine used as well, in kilograms. They like that the graphs of raw and filtered water are on separate axes. Oscar indicated that the graphs are relatively easy for him to understand, but it is difficult to explain them to the water board. They don't have much experience reading graphs and so are confused or worried about all the sharp peaks and dips of the graphs. Oscar mentioned it would be nice to average out the graph, but we need to think of a way to do so while keeping the graphs accurate to the actual operation of the plant.

For these reports, Morocelí requested that there be an option in the browser version to view or download past reports as well. They only have town assemblies every few months, and by the time the assembly rolls around they've misplaced the reports from previous months. Could we add a sidebar with links to monthly reports for the past 12 months or so?

We're still exploring graphing or visualization options with Morocelí that will be accessible to laypeople in the community.

I've created this folder in the POST Research folder on the AguaClara Drive and uploaded all past reports - they go back to May of last year at the latest. I didn't sort them yet since I'm not sure what our tagging/sorting method will be and what will be easiest for you guys.

As we discussed, the newly generated reports could just include the general plant information and min/max/average data for the time being until we've landed on an effective visual tool. Is it worth cooking up a way to automatically generate comments? Probably not a priority.

Here are a few mock-ups for different visualization options for the plant in Morocelí. I also tried a box-and-whiskers plot, but the different data ranges make it ugly to display raw, settled, and filtered turbidities side by side. We chatted with one of our coworkers, Vary, this morning, and she suggested sticking with the scatter plot but including instructions or a guide under each plot to help the reader understand it - v4 is a sample of this.

I added this issue #15 to add report links to the website because that is a separate issue (although it is tied into creating the reports.)

@jonschristensen Thanks for uploading all the files. Can I edit their titles to make indexing/filtering easier? I'll let you know what scheme I come up with so - until we start generating these automatically - you can add new reports without breaking anything.
