I'm still unable to figure out how to edit a very bad scan manually

I have a very bad score scan. After the autorecognition, the very first staff - the worst of all - was completely skipped, so I am trying to add it manually. I found out that whereas the program can "identify" some glyphs - it:

1. can identify the other (the given glyph appears in the "Classifier" section), but it does not add them to the staff;
2. can not identify some of them - the given glyph does not appear in the "Classifier" section and thus not added to the staff either, naturally.
   What am I supposed to do about that?
