Describe the bug
Audiveris creating corrupted MXL from Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata PDF. This is from mutopia project which produces good quality PDFs.

Expected behavior
Audiveris doesn't produce corrupted MXL file.

I have just transcribed the first sheet and launched MuseScore and Finale on the MXL output. Result is OK.
Could you elaborate on the "corrupted MXL file" you got?
Do you know which sheet leads to an error. Should I process the entire score?

I finally ran Audiveris on the whole score (23 sheets).
I did not try to correct the remaining transcription errors. Most of them are due to small notes, something that current Audiveris does not handle, except for simple grace notes with or without slash.

MuseScore accepted the MXL file with no problem.

Finale issued 3 error messages, shown below:

But, past these messages, the score was displayed and could be played.

Like I said, there are indeed remaining transcription errors, that I did not take time to fix manually on this score. But no corrupted MXL file per se.
