Applying codeless API Schemas

Hi,

I am currently working in maya 2023 with maya-usd 0.27.0 and I am trying to apply a codeless schema to a prim without success.

import mayaUsd
import mayaUsd.lib as mayaUsdLib

sphere = cmds.polySphere()
adaptor = mayaUsdLib.Adaptor("pSphereShape1")
material_tagAPI = adaptor.ApplySchemaByName("MaterialTagAPI")

print(dir(material_tagAPI))
mat_tag = material_tagAPI.CreateAttribute("material:tag")
mat_tag.Set("test_mat")

Our MaterialTagAPI is a codelss schema so it has no C++ object and the CreateAttribute seems to fail with codeless schemas. Is there other work arounds for this?

Ignore me - it does work, but NOT with relationship attributes!

Thanks for sharing this. The team did discuss this a few weeks ago after you posted but we got tied up with other activities.

The team was not entirely clear on the ask when you mentioned to ignore the issue. Is this an issue that you still need help with? Do you happen to know if the issue exists in newer versions of USD and Maya?
