Project Information
- Project Name: Project Evergreen
- Project Haiku:
Do The Mario
Swing Your Arms From Side To Side
Do The Mario - Project Analogy: It's like Plague Inc., but instead of spreading a virus, you’re fighting to save the planet.
Project Description
Project Evergreen is a strategy game where the player attempts to slow and reverse climate change. The player will direct agents (e.g. lawmakers, scientists, philanthropists) to perform actions which raise awareness and take direct action.
It is inspired by top-down games which are played on a world map such as Terra Invicta and Plague Inc: Evolved.
Bylaw Questions
How is this project a bad idea?
Project Evergreen has the potential to spread incorrect information. In order to mitigate this, we'll contract experts (e.g. climate scientists) to ensure that the game is an accurate depiction of the real world.
If the game is too difficult, players might feel helpless. However, by designing clear win conditions and tangible progress markers, we ensure they feel empowered to act. We'll regularly poll sentiment during playtest feedback.
If this project were a D&D Character, what alignment would it be and why?
Chaotic Good. Project Evergreen aims to encourage peaceful activism.
Where are the lulz?
I'm the project lead. Let me know if you need me to elaborate.
How does this project make people thinking face emoji?
Project Evergreen will encourage players to take action in the real world—whether by voting, advocating, or making sustainable choices. By immersing them in high-stakes decision-making, the game transforms climate change from an abstract issue into an urgent, solvable challenge.

Is this realistic to implement via BIFFUD?
It is realistic. I can fulfill some roles in a pinch. However, in order to be the most successful, we'll need representation from the following disciplines

Next Steps
- Attend the next scheduled BIFFUD plotting session to plead your case.
- Prove out the core game mechanics in a prototype. Key mechanics include agent actions, their impact on the world, and win / loss conditions.
- Address feedback from playtests.
- Expand the game with more content.
- Release the game.
How (often) will you be providing updates to the organization?
Progress will be reported on a monthly basis through a combination of patch notes and a publicly available playtest.
A Windows build will be available on a bi-weekly cadence. An OSX / Linux build will be available, but I don't make any promises on stability.
