What does the CSCTW

Every college has stories of its students' actions that changed the world.
Our vision for College Students Change the World is to assist you in collecting and sharing students' stories using our frameworks for gathering and organizing your primary sources into theoretically effective educational resources.
As organized, these resources increase student ethical and intercultural competency by developing empathy and perspective takingin engaging ways that are relevant to today’s college students. These frameworks were developed through scholarly analysis and quasi- participatory action research methods.

Organizing Data to Promote Ethical Action

The Summer 2019 team found that communicating complex historical stories within a newspaper format increases accessibility. We offer the following framework to facilitate both your collection and organization of that story. We hypothesize that this framework best shares this content and accomplishes these learning outcomes (examining this hypothesis is the primary role of this undergraduate research team). This framework is based on Rest's Major Components of Morality and Ethical Action (Rest, 1984; Rest, Narveaz, Bebeau, and Thoma, 1999). We propose that you organize your (newspaper) story by these (headlines) components asking the following questions to identify how best to do that. Click on "Organizing Data to Promote Ethical Action" to access our table that assists with organizing collected data.

Considerations for Presenting Your Data to Maximize Empathy and Perspective Taking

Coming Spring 2021: The Summer 2020 Learning Outcome Sub-Team found that the manner in which you present your data can influence the users’ ability to engage in and displayed level of empathy and perspective-taking. We offer the following framework to facilitate both your collection and organization of that story to encourage both.

Themes for Highlighting Engaging Historical Data

Coming Spring 2021: The Summer 2020 SURGE History, Story, and Production Sub-Teams found that the following themes of a racial justice activists’ story most resonates with the college students. We offer the following framework to facilitate both your collection and organization of your story to increase excitement and interest in your project.
