I build Chatterino myself, so I don't really care, but couldn't we provide the built files as a tar.gz or something like that, if you don't want to "install" Chatterino and have it as an executable file in the filesystem (after extracting)? Of course the dependencies need to be present than, but maybe there can be a note on what the dependencies are in that tar.gz file. |

Arch Linux users can now migrate to https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/chatterino2-nightly-bin or https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/chatterino2-bin for pre-built Chatterino packages . The corresponding AppImage packages in AUR will no longer be updated. |

I would like to deprecate our use of AppImages. They don't provide the "convenient crossplatformness" they promise.
For most use cases, you can use Flatpak instead - you get auto updates through your Flatpak provider too.
Ubuntu users can continue to use the deb files we provide. We could host our own APT repo to support auto updates.
Do you use AppImage and have no other clear replacement path? Let me know here!
