MechaPwn Installation Post-BBN

Hello, I've recently become interested in installing MechaPWN to my console (for reference, the latest dev build here: https://github.com/MechaResearch/MechaPwn/releases/tag/latest). However, I have already installed PSBBN to this same SSD that I use on my console, luckily enough a Sakura SCPH-50000. I was wondering if I could get some pointers on the potential risks of undertaking this with an already existing installation, i.e. whether the drive must be formatted again or if this is even the correct version to use in the first place.

You're all good, just install MechaPWN as normal. PSBBN will be unaffected.

The included Launch Disc app was designed with MechaPWN in mind. It skips straight to the "PlayStation 2" logo, allowing imports and master discs to boot. For PS1 games, it also adjusts the video mode if needed.

Thanks for the heads up. I was also wondering if the region selector (such as making it a DEV console or a normal US console) would cause any issues with the Navigator or the chips of the PS2 in its current state.

You cannot change region on a fat PS2 anymore. Your only option is Retail-DEX. Japanese consoles, such as yours will be able to play any region PS2 disc as well as PS2 master discs with the included Launch Disc app. No multi-region support for PS1 games, you will only be able to play Japanese region PS1 discs and backups.

The best console for MechaPWN is the SCPH-50001 as they can be made fully region free for PS1 and PS2 games, as well as launch them all without the Launch Disc app.
