Feature Request: Update games through Ethernet

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to update games through the ethernet port instead of removing the HDD and then connecting to a PC. It would be easier to connect the PC to the PS2 through an ethernet cable and have the installer script transfer the files through the ethernet cable. I am asking as I remember people loading games through ethernet on the Slim and thought this could elevate the experience of PSBBN.

That is far beyond the scope of this project. Currently no homebrew software exists that can copy files over the network to an exFAT partition on the PS2. If somebody made such software in the future I could certainly look into implementing it.

I have looked a bit into it, it seems that HDLDUMB kinda does something similar to what I am looking for. But it uses wifi from the computer to send the games, to the PS2. https://github.com/AKuHAK/hdl-dump

However, I am unsure if the HDD is exFAT or FAT32. But it seems to be useful for a few games instead of using it with a bunch of games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpBYuCI0d8E

This project already uses HDL-DUMP. Currently it only supports the PFS filesystem and not exFAT.

Ok, that's a shame that It does not support exFAT, but it sadly does not seem possible currently. But thanks for answering all the questions

sonds to me, new OPL can upload games by NBD or something similar over LAN (mounting the disk over lan as virtual disk) , and now OPL supports exFAT

this issue can be fixed with this?

No, OPL can only stream games over ethernet. It cannot install them.

i mean. opl creates a server, then with NBD clients on pc can mount that devices like a native drive over net. then with hdldump or whatever dumper use install it on that virtual device as local device, but in fact, is installed on the real disk over the network

Games are not installed in this way. For PS2 games, the ISOs files are now copied to the exFAT partition. There's currently no PS2 software that can copy games to the exFAT partition, by any means.

in that point not need any program on ps2 side for doing that. only need execute the NBD server (opl integrate this) and on the PC side, mount the NBD device throught net with https://github.com/cloudbase/wnbd or something similar (in linux have nbd-client) and copy manually the iso the the virtual device. not need external program for do that, only the windows exporer (or finder on macos or whatever use in linux)

It is not currently possible. Neither NBD server or HDL Dump support exFAT.

If you think you can get the PS2's exFat partition mounted over the network, i would love you to give me a step by step guide.
