problem with land restart: maint-2.0

I'm having trouble restarting a LR E3SMv2.0 simulation after updating my maint-2.0 codebase. I see discussion of land restart issues that look vaguely familiar from 2023 (e.g., #5700).

Background:
I am restarting a simulation that ran for 50 years over the summer 2024. When I tried to restart the simulation I ran into some cime-related software issues (plus I was using the gnu compiler), so I upgraded my code base (downloading E3SM maint-2.0 and setting up a new case directory from scratch), and rebuilt a case using the intel compiler. I am getting this error when I try to restart (i.e., CONTINUE_RUN=TRUE) the simulation.

Has anyone encountered anything like this recently?
