Avatar, Owner, Encryption and Selling #351

This is mainly because some people are worried about whether they can sell their avatar(s), (Actually happening in YSM) and it is Not declared.
Is there anything missing? Edited on 2025.6.29: Sorry for my carelessness, I forgot to mention that, after changing to |

I don't think many of these are prevalent problems in figura. The person/people who made the avatar have complete ownership of it, and they can determine how to divvy that ownership between themselves.
Most of these have available licenses, others will have information on required accreditation in their respective threads. If it has neither but has been posted in a channel dedicated to posting libraries for people to use, it is reasonable to assume no restrictions.
People can set their own licenses for their work.
Yes, and the discord has multiple ways of supporting it.
Yes, but good luck.
Yes, but not on the discord, and it should adhere to individual servers' rules regarding such content. (i am not an actual dev or maintainer, but all of these are general knowledge and extant in other sources) |

if you do not provide a license with your avatar or state otherwise, you retain all rights to your avatar and no one may reproduce or create derivatives from your work (all rights reserved)
multiple people can own an avatar, same as above
most assets have licenses, are cc-by, or similar.
the license of an avatar or asset is declared by the owner(s) of the asset
yes
you may obfuscate/encrypt your code or models, but due to the mod being open source we currently do not have a way to prevent model theft effectively. however, i would say that it is not easy for the average person to do, and obtaining the original files is not possible because they are converted to another format when uploading the model
it is not allowed in the discord server or places directly owned by figuramc (such as the figura plaza mc server), but we do not check every avatar uploaded to the backend. |
