What exactly is outdated with the source firmware?

After playing around a bit with the prebuilt firmware from this repo I can say it does not closely match the config repo source. It's qwerty layout and even the layers that match aren't identical. Basically it's a totally different config for TOTEM.

So, Is everyone who is attempting to build the wired version just waiting until someone figures out how to make this work with the new QMK version, or do we need to look for alternative solutions, or what?

Hi, I'm in the process of build a TOTEM myself, and yeah since I've not had the pleasure of working with QMK so far, it really caught me off guard. As far as I can tell, config that can be found here is different to the one found here. I think this is the OUTDATED part...

Also, since this config is not merged to QMK keyboard base, there is some additional work to be done, contrary to the readme.md file in the firmware directory.

Finally, it looks like the provided firmware is compatible with VIAL, so the best course of action might be to flash RP2040's with corresponding firmware and then to do additional configuration using VIAL.

I'll report on this in a week or so when all parts get delivered...

Hi all,

I received a current qmk firmware from a friend who has a working config. I was able to compile it with current Ubuntu 24.04 in wsl with qmk vial.

Here's a working ZMK config. The original project directory structure was a bit off, hence the changes. Builds just fine.

Clone the repo and just set your own keymaps in the config in config/totem.keymap, commit, push, and flash the produced firmware.

Yeah, that's fine. The readme says that ZMK is outdated, hence the original question. I reckon QMK is also not up to date, so your post definitely helps.
