I've tried docker up -d and there are some errors I believe because I don't have the correct credentials for the database.

its probably still valid work. this is not customer-facing, but open-source/developer facing.
somebody would need to walk through these steps and update the docs. a good task for a next-developer-who-runs-docker, or when there is free time.
