Change the language for the UI

It would be good if it were possible to set English as the default language during installation, regardless of which system language my OS uses. I use Windows 11 24H2.

Or the possibility to change generally in config to English for the UI and ROM properties view.

On Linux systems, this is handled by setting the environment variable LC_ALL= to something like "en_US.UTF-8", "es_ES.UTF-8", etc.

On Windows, the locale is handled completely differently, but rom-properties does support using the LC_ALL variable to override it. You'd need to set it before running Windows Explorer or rp-config, though.

gettext is widely used by multiple components on Linux, so I can't easily add a "override the language on rom-properties only" option for the shell extension. This might be doable on Windows though. I'll have to look into adding an option into the configuration program.

As a windows workaround, if you want it to fallback to english strings (e.g. for scripting the json output), rename the locale directory .
