[Feature Request]: Update checker/notification for themes and plugins #2277

Feature Description
I recently realized that then and when a theme or a plugins has been updated to a newer release, but I do not check the official plugins or themes everyday. I request a way to reach a simple update notification or just that a newer version of a theme or plugin is available. Perhaps this could also be used with third party plugins. This feature request could be realized with a small plugin and I am not a dev.
