Custom global config directory on Linux

I can not find a way to set a custom config directory on Linux. I have read the install docs but it seems to be only possible to set a custom directory for sites. However I would like to set a custom directory for the global config dir.

Or, in different words: I do not want Publii to always create a directory in $HOME/Documents - how can I change that behavior?

Also I would like to suggest to use $HOME/.config/ as a default directory - please keep the users Documents directory clean! Thank you very much!

Hi, this is something that is currently holding me back going on with testing of this nice project - I am not sure if there are some problems with Electron and $HOME, but I guess this is a five minute issue for any experienced Electron developer and I just want to highlight that it is super impolite to just write your files in some place in my $HOME. It would be a great addition if you would like to fix this issue asap so this tool could be considered as a publishing tool, thank you very much! Best to make the config directory configurable by some environment variable.

Yes, same here. Messing up with my $HOME is not ok.
And that it takes so long to fix this make me feel angry.

angry? Mr. ZXCV-P, I think we're getting ahead of ourselves. It's a free, open-source project, you can do it yourself and contribute to the project.

Bob - you are dropping on a personal level here, but I believe that "angry" was not meant in this way. As a programmer it is good advice to distance your emotions from your product as much as possible - leave the emotions for your lovers. However, it is still important to understand that as a developer in fact you can produce things that can make people react emotionally - did you ever get, let´s say nervous, because the computer does things that are not what you expected right now? And it happened all over again and again, and despite that we all know that certain things should not happen and we even have discussed things before and even many people commited a lot of time to create rules to make it much more easy to do things in a certain way so these things should never ever happen again - but they still happen!!! - well, that makes people nervous or sometimes it triggers even stronger emotions.

It does not mean that these emotions are directed at you, the developer - but you still should understand that you have the power to generate emotions by letting your software do things in a certain way.

An incredible power - creating emotions in people - let that sink in for a while...

You see how hard it is for us humans to control emotions, even on distance - that is the reasons why we invent rules to make everything more easy for us and avoid the friction that negative emotions can create. Just follow the rules and everything will be fine.

That of course is not true for rules that produce really bad results, like lots of dead babies or such - then you should of course start a revolution.

To avoid unnecessary comments I have locked the conversation. In my free time I will look how I can resolve the problem with directories to allow users select where to store Publii files.
