Android App to Visualize & Store Geiger Counter Datalog

Hey everyone,

I’ve created an Android app that lets you read, store, and visualize the stored datalog from Radpro Geiger-counters on your phone/tablet. The data is transferred via the USB port.
Right now, it’s a beta version, so there’s plenty of room for improvement. Feel free to test it and share your feedback.

You can download the APK from the GitHub repository. The app works on Android 8.0+ (Oreo, API 26).

I’ve already planned to implement a variable moving average filter in the future. Another idea is to add the possibility of joining several downloaded datalogs with the same device ID, allowing data logging over a longer period with the same Geiger-counter. But I think it would be better to restructure the ER model of the app’s database before implementing that.

GPS mapping is also an interesting idea, which I have already considered, but I think it would be more difficult to implement. Maybe in the future.

Combining radiation and GPS logs sounds tough. But live logging radiation together with GPS data shouldn't be too difficult to pull off!

On another note, I'm very glad to hear that the USB serial connection is working smoothly from Android!

Oh, I hadn’t thought of that approach! That sounds like a feasible idea.
Thanks to the USB serial library, the communication works flawlessly. However, there would be no chance of getting it working on iPhones since Apple requires certification for USB devices.

Right now, I’m working on implementing a smoothing filter.

Also, I wanted to say that I really appreciate the effort you put into developing such a great firmware and making it available as open source.

Just released a new version with the following features:

• Added an adaptive moving average filter to smooth out the data in the chart, making it easier to read.
• Created a clean and organized ER model for the Room Library, making it easier to run queries and ready for future updates.
• Made it possible to view all downloaded data logs from one device in a single chart.
