Typing inserted inside existing text

I expect thisis very basic, but im having two problems with Helboard.
¹ Repeats of letters, such as "thee" instead of "the"
2 Instead of inserting texaftert (this just happened) text AFTER existing text, istartt it starts typing INSIDE the existing text
