Nagstmon 3.16.2 and 2FA

So our monitoring team is implementing 2FA on our Nagios installation next week. They have informed us that after that change Nagstmon will stop functioning. Is that accurate and if so is there any plans to support 2fa login with Nagstamon at all in the future? Would really hate to lose the functionality of Nagstamon entirely.

Currently there is no support for anything like 2FA or SSO. I see the demand is increasing, but honestly do not know how to start this. Every supported server type will need different treatment, what makes things even more complicated

Got it, I had feared they were correct in their statement about it not working. Just hate losing that view into it. Especially managing a few Nagios installs with it. Losing that nice 1000 yard view into it.

More than happy to help test in any way I can from my side, as I understand the implementation of 2FA, a code will be sent via email to be entered into the WebUI, so not sure if there would be a way to pass that along un your authentication component to validate the connection? Just thinking out loud.

You inspired me to check out if the Qt included browser QtWebEngine could be used for managing the HTTP requests and browser based logins. This would require fundamental changes, just for proving if this would work, so I cannot say how quickly this could be an option.
