Add "Feedback Types"

Perceived Problem

• Currently, there isn't a clear way to differentiate or classify different types of feedback a user might get
• My hypothesis is that this could create a little bit of friction for someone as they start to address feedback

Ideas / Proposed Solution(s)

• Create the ability for a user to select a "type" of feedback when they open a comment thread
  • Ex: (a) grammar fix (b) spelling error (c) alternative word choice
• I believe this would make the experience of viewing, processing, and addressing feedback much smoother and more focused for the user, because they could easily identify "Ok so those are all simple spelling mistakes, those ones are vocab suggestions, and these are grammatical errors". Perhaps they only have 10 mins and just want to fix the spelling mistakes for now, or spend some more focused time just looking at the grammar fixes

Visual Design

• We could add a simple dropdown and add this to the Inline Feedback popover as a requirement to submit a comment

I love this idea.

A super-user has provided feedback on this idea also, broadening the scope a little:

Spelling: misspelled words, capitalization, hyphenation, punctuation(?);
• Grammar: all ungrammatical forms, lack of agreement, incorrect tenses;
• Syntax: incorrect word order
• Suggestion: selected text not incorrect per se, but would sound more natural and idiomatic like this…, unusual/archaic/obsolete usage

Furthermore, each correction type could have its own color. I would suggest a palette of greens and blues. Journaly is visually such an elegant site and nothing is more jarring that a beautiful post littered with 4 competing primary colors!

It would also be great if there were a way to indicate text we find excellent just for the sake of praising the poster. I’ve had a lot of posters reuse text from a previous post correctly in a new post based on my correction and I’d love to be able to praise them for it without highlighting the text in question and having it look like an error. Maybe it could appear in the comment section below with a star and say CocoPop gave you a gold star for “blah blah bloppity blah blah blah”.
