Too many points in a track

I used the app for some time: it works well, thank you.

When a downloaded a GPX track I noticed that the file is very large: about ten times larger than tracks created with other apps. I looked at the file and I noticed that it contains a very high number of points: for hiking there are really too many points, making the file really large: I easily got a 4MB file.

It would be nice to have an option to reduce the number of points recorded in the track. Other apps can apply a limit in space (keep points at least x meters away) or in time (record a new point after x seconds).
