Problem with Immax Neo / Tuya TRV (TS0601) in combination with Better Thermostat

Today I spent the whole day trying to solve my problem with the help of forum posts and ChatGPT. At this point I don’t know how to continue, so I’m opening this issue hoping for help.
Here is the summary I was able to put together:

Setup

• Home Assistant 2025.9 on Raspberry Pi 5
• Zigbee2MQTT
• Thermostat: Immax Neo (Tuya TS0601 / 07732L)
• Better Thermostat v1.7.0

Observations

1. Direct control works

   • Using Zigbee2MQTT or the HA dashboard I can directly set temperatures on the TRV → the valve reacts correctly.
   • Boost on the TRV itself or via HA works fine → valve opens immediately.
   • Open window detection also works correctly.

2. Not working via Better Thermostat

   • If I set a target temperature through Better Thermostat, nothing happens on the valve.
   • Weekly schedule / auto mode are ignored.
   • In the HA log I see:

     better_thermostat heating: climate.50-2-m_xyz_heizung HVAC mode auto is not supported by this device
     

3. BT settings

   • “If TRV cannot use OFF mode, set to 5°C” → enabled.
   • “Should BT manage the thermostat?” → enabled.
   • “Swap auto and heat modes …” → tested, no change.
   • Calibration type: Offset Based.
   • Calibration mode: AI Time Based.

4. Device feedback

   • BT shows the target temperature I set, but does not forward it to the TRV.
   • Only Boost (and window open detection) are actually sent to the TRV.

Question

• Is the reason simply that my TRV does not support the auto mode?
• Would it be possible to add an option in Better Thermostat that only uses heat and off (fallback if auto is not available)?
• Or do you recommend another way to use these TRVs with BT?

Note: I have seen that other users with Tuya TRVs report similar problems.
