About this discussion

Some tools (mostly root-related) use randomised package names to avoid detection, and are impossible to be mapped in app source code. Allowing to change bindings from app would fix this, and also allow to set an icon for apps that don't have one yet, so they won't stand out from the rest.

On the one hand, I don't quite understand what prevents you from changing icons using launchers.

On the other hand, I had a similar idea, but for a different reason. It may be more convenient to install an icon through Lawnicons when you started searching for icons there, rather than in a launcher settings.
