Lavabit has had a bit of a turbulent past. It was Edward Snowden's email provider of choice prior to the leaks.
They made the decision to shut down in 2013, after being subpoenaed by the US to hand over SSL keys. They also terminated all email access for other users, preventing them from accessing their accounts.

It was re-written and re-launched in 2017, offering End-to-end DIME encryption for $30/year.

Lavabit is a controversial one, with a turbulent past. But when it comes down to it in my opinion they don't offer the modern usability or privacy features that many other services are offering.
