Downloadable link in side menu

It will be nice to be able to add downloadable links to the side menu. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/a#download

The usage will be have some txt file, source code, cvs, config, etc that when user click, it downloads instead of open in browser. Very useful for documentation.

Interesting idea. As I am currently in the process of working on linking for various parts of the theme, I will keep this in consideration.

Not promising anything here, but if it's easy to implement (and I think it is), you'll may see this in the next release.

I maybe missed something, but with the following configure in hugo.toml, I got the href rendered to '/abc.csvdownloadtrue':

[[menu.shortcuts]]
name = 'Download CSV'
url = '/abc.csv?download=true'

But if I remove the leading /, it is rendered correctly.

I can confirm your finding but this is an upstream (speak: Hugo) issue. I am not sure what happens there. For your case the debug output {{- warnf "%+v --- %s %s" . .URL .ConfiguredURL }} of the menu entry shows this:

WARN  &{MenuConfig:{Identifier: Parent: Name:Download CSV 1 Pre: Post: URL:/abc.csv?download=true PageRef: Weight:0 Title: Params:map[]} Menu:shortcuts ConfiguredURL:/abc.csvdownloadtrue Page:<nil> Children:[]} --- /abc.csvdownloadtrue /abc.csvdownloadtrue

So just leave the "/" could be a solution for you.
