Improve Look and feel of header

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Courtesy of the minima theme, our current site header is pretty plain and simple. It would be great to have it look as fun as the Wordpress Blog.

The current Wordpress theme's header looks awesome as is, it can be replicated in the new blog. Feel free to discuss any suggestions that come to your mind to improve upon it.
