Describe the bug
system has been running since "2021-05-06 01:15:03.787" per the 'bus.log' [a long time for me]
system was basically useable ['news' & wakeword - excepted]
put unit to 'sleep' Fri night :: but 'woke' it Saturday and had issues with LED ring indications
troubleshooting the LEDs - ran into an issue with the 'Volume' skill

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. long running on latest(s) ???
  2. put unit to sleep 00:57 may 15 UTC - [all inputs are via a mechanical switch - Hey Ezra is very sporadic]
  3. 'woke it up' @ approx 10:30 UTC - had no 'listen ring' -but had the bee-bop
  4. @11:19 ish UTC - played with volume switch [to see the LEDs] but no led-indication - volume did change !!
Gez edit: content covered in other tickets while it was timing out on a "what time is it" told it to "set volume to 50%" - RESponded with 'setting BRIGHTness to 50%"

checked the "https://github.com/mycroftai/skill-volume/tree/d6527214faf8797b06c8db7ca271f9884c4fa01f' and used it's example to set it to 7 --STILL got a 'brightness' response

long running issue -- the 'News' skill doesn't release it's gui after doing the news AND the top-control/pull down menu won't select the 'Standby Face' !!!! [I usually ask for 'time' and it is back to normal]

Expected behavior
LEDs to respond in the proper manner - missing the 'thinking' LEDs also

Thanks Gary. It's also great that you have split this out into multiple tickets so I've modified this issue a little to keep it focused on what's not covered in the others.

@Olzeke51 reported another instance of non-standard LED behaviour in Chat.

BAD NEWs - the 'latest' - whoops - had a reboot overnight on the latest of 07-03 -- BUT I don't get the circle of LEDs for listening & thinking !!! - - even after my own 'turn off from menu' !!!!
I do get the 'temp & mic' LEDs - off to work
Power Cycle cleared it up - to all indications !!
