Unicode not supported

Most of my recorded programs names and description is in unicode (Hebrew), they are seen correctly on the regular frontend and mythweb. however they are not seen correctly on this app (actually, Hebrew letters are not seen at all)

What is the value of $LANG and $LC_ALL when you start
your backend?

Note that this app is now at End of LIfe and a new app is under
development to replace it (MythTV Player.)
