Example with min, max, and mean annotations similar to CESM diagnostics

At the top of the contour bars, there was once an option in NCL, or in CESM diags, to print the min, max, and mean of the contour plots. How to add little text boxes on top of the contour bars to bring back that information on the plots?

Thanks for asking! I think I recall what you're talking about and agree this would be worth demoing here and/or in geocat-applications.

Do you have an example you could point to for reference? I couldn't find one in a quick search.

I think probably the best way for us to demo this would be via some examples and resources related to labeling / annotations in geocat-applications.

That example looks spot-on. How can I make it look like that with Geocat?

It should be relatively straightforward to do something similar with Xarray / NumPy stats and Matplotlib titles and labels.

I suspect replicating the exact locations of the min / max annotations from the CESM diagnostics plots might be a little tricky and/or verbose with Matplotlib, but something similar shouldn't be too difficult.

I'll see if we can add an example somewhere and hopefully those Matplotlib resources help in the meantime.
