Using turbChannel statistics code from nek5000 into nekRS

Hi,

I have attempted to use the "statistics" piece of code from userchk subroutine from the Nek5000 turbChannel tutorial into the nekRS turbChannel tutorial without success

Are the nek5000 files from nekRS/3rd_party/nek5000/core be read by nekRS or just the .usr file from nek5000 that is read in nekRS?

Hi Filipe,

NekRS compiles Nek5000 source code into lib.nek5000 (at run time) so all subroutines can be called from usr file.

Take nekrs v23 as an example.

(path to source code)3rd_party/nek5000

[installtion]
(path to nekrs installation)/nek5000/

[run time]
(case folder)/.cache/nek5000/
You should see familiar files such as obj/, SIZE, makefile, and lib(casename).so at here.

So I am not sure what is happening. I am trying to call subroutine "torque_calc", which lies inside navier5.f, from my .usr file but that is not working. I have added an output statement inside torque_calc subroutine that lies inside 3rd_party/nek5000/navier5.f and that confirms that it is not being called

Where are you calling torque_calc ?
Did you call userchk in udf file?
Did you also set up the objects properly?
Did you modify the navier5.f under [installtion] and make sure you clear the .cache before a new submission?

• I am calling torque_calc inside userchk
• Inside the .udf file I have this:

Is userchk being called every time step?

• It seems that the nek5000 files inside '.local/nekrs/nek5000/core' that are the ones being used, and not those inside '3rd_party/nek5000/'

The problem is that the operations from "statistics" piece of code of the nek5000/turbChannel tutorial are returning NaN when implemented in nekRS... but the channel conditions are the same, so I am not sure what is going on

Hi @bran0876, just checking in to see if you were able to use "statistics" piece of code from userchk subroutine from the Nek5000 turbChannel into the nekRS turbChannel ? I am trying to do same, and facing some issues. Thanks.
