Guidelines

  • I have read the FAQ and it doesn't cover my request.
  • I have searched the issue tracker for open and closed issues that are similar to the feature request I want to file, without success.
  • I'm on the latest version.
  • I'm not using a test build (alpha/beta/release-candidate).
  • This issue contains only one feature request.

Problem Description

Please add an option to add a list of alternative passwords for decryption.

I usually have a separate password per device. Then sometimes I need to share backups between devices.
In SwiftBackup it was possible to have alternative passwords for this usecase.

On Neo-Backup, if I copy backups from an other device, I expected to get a failure message or a question dialog for the password. But the restore is just running and never finishing until I kill Neo-Backup. This actually is a bug. Worth a separate report?

Proposed Solution

Proposed solution is, having a main password for encryption and a list of alternative passwords tried if the main password fails for decryption. Then adding a dialog if no password is matching, requesting a password. And adding a failure dialog if none of all the passwords finally matches.
