Usage examples for the base_external_dbsource module

I installed the base_external_dbsource module and am able to connect to an external postgresql database. However I am not able to find any examples of how the base_external_dbsource module should be used. I would like to create a model and access data from the external database in similar ways as the native Odoo database.

Any examples of how to use this module would be appreciated. It might also be wise to add some to the readme of this module.
