The limitations of this layout are filesystem dependent (with one exception), and are generally as follows:

Should the emphasized limitation read "Prefix-omitted object identifiers cannot include characters that are illegal in directory names"? The character, /, cannot appear in directory names and Example 2 includes object IDs with /. These IDs work only because the prefix-omitted portion of the ID does not include /. Am I misunderstanding?
