That's an exciting big addition, and an important one at that! Thanks for suggesting! Name / scopeAt first, I was quite confused by “Advertising policies” as a terms type name. Only through examples did I understand this was about how platforms enforce some specific content. Some of these policies also cover practices. Examples:
I am not clear if some documents should also be part of the “Advertising policies” in the sense of this terms type. For example:
Upon review of all provided examples, I notice that only TikTok and Google go beyond content policies and tend to define every aspect of their relationship with advertisers in these documents. I thus suggest to restrict this new terms type to “Advertising Content Policy” and focus on what advertisers are allowed to show and under which conditions, in order to avoid creating a mixed bag of business relationships with wide variation across platforms. I prefer that we stick to singular (“Policy” instead of “Policies”) as we've only ever used “Policy” in the singular form in terms types names so far. Alternative names

I don't see straight up a definition of Advertising Policies in the DSA that would be helpful to clarify this terms type. Can you clarify which part of the DSA is relevant for you? 🙂 Are we talking maybe about §26, §39 or §46? ExamplesI corrected the name of X's terms (it is “Ads Content Policies”, which I find much clearer). |
