Since it can be expensive for me to purchase, evaluate, and develop controls for all of the various devices, I've set up an Amazon Wish List (US) and an Amazon Wish List (DE) for any of you who are feeling incredibly generous and want to send me something that I don't already own. If I don't own a device, I will not add it to the Firemote project.

📢 Homatics Wins! ✅

It was a close poll, and the results were tied between Homatics and Samsung TV Remote when I made my decision to purchase a Homatics device from Amazon! Of course, two days later the votes changed a little, but since I'm not waiting for delivery of a Samsung TV, Homatics still wins!

Here were the results:

No! If you can control your device through Home Assistant, you can control it through Firemote even if it's not officially supported yet! Take a look at this help article that explains the process.

How can I make my vote stronger?

I've set up an Amazon Wish List (US) and an Amazon Wish List (DE) for any of you who are feeling incredibly generous and want to send me something that I don't already own. If I don't own a device, I will not add it to the Firemote project. Ownership of a device plays a HUGE role in how I decide on adding a new device family to the Firemote project

What Happens Next?

After the Homatics device arrives, I will evaluate it for inclusion in the project. If it looks good, I will get it added! Once it is added, I will reset the poll results back to zero so we can vote on the next winner!

I've been very busy doing other things, but at this moment I'm back and trying to catch up with the over 100 issues that were opened while I was away. Yikes!

Two pieces of bad news for me that might end up being good news for you:

1. I just got laid off from my job last week but that means I have time to work on Firemote again
2. My main TV in my house is on the fritz but that means I might have an excuse to buy a Samsung TV. Clearly it's ahead in the poll!

I have a lot to do though... and apparently some ugliness has happened with Chromecast devices recently that I need to work through. Either way, stuff should start happening again.
