I'm trying to wipe a Dell PowerEdge R720xd server using ShredOS. I've successfully wiped two other Dell servers with ShredOS this week, so I didn't expect any problems with this one, however while ShredOS does boot, it just stops at the "Searching for exFAT/FAT32/FAT16 USB drive" message and doesn't go any further. See below:
I've tried:
Unfortunately while some Dells have built-in wipe tools in the BIOS it seems this one does not, so I really need to use a wiping utility for this.
Any ideas what's wrong?
EDIT: I left it alone as I had a Teams call to go on but it did eventually boot into nwipe, but it can't see the drives, just the USB, so this might be the same issue as #266 unfortunately.
EDIT 2: I found a GitHub issue #39 which suggests ShredOS should support Dell PERC cards, even in RAID mode?
EDIT 3: maybe this is also related to #270
EDIT 4:
lspci -v
says themegaraid_sas
driver is loaded? so not sure why it can't see it?Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
