What is "#![allow(unused)]"? #756

As I started reading the documentation, this command suddenly appeared in an example without any explanation.
I guessed it would be explained later, but it wasn't.
What's important is that it's in almost every example, which makes me feel like it's a repetitive, uninteresting scripting language.

Another question: Why are there no performance metrics?
For any programming language, performance is the most critical metric. Even vague estimates—like “2-3 times faster than Python” or “1/100th the performance of JavaScript-V8”—would at least provide a clear positioning for the language.
