Change default branch to "main"

Hi all,

I guess yesterday (Juneteenth) would have been a better day to post this, but I think we should either copy the master branch to main (and deprecate master) or rename master to main. Reasoning: words matter.

Sorry I have not responded earlier.

I have no objection to the change, but I think we need some notification period. As Kyle already changed it, git pull should fail now, which can be confusing. Is there anyway to notify users to switch the branches? Maybe we restore master for a while with "deprecated" label or something?

I suggest having a master branch where the configure.py throws a deprecation error unless you pass the -ignore_deprecation flag, which demotes it to a warning.

I am not very good at Git(hub), but I guess there is no way to notify users when they pull the latest one.
