Kernel module for proton-vpn-daemon

Hi!

Debian 13 user here.

The last update is now trying to install proton-vpn-daemon which carries linux-header as a dependency. I presume that this is to then build a kernel module.

Is this actually necessary? I dislike the idea of having an app tinkering with my kernel, unless I'm misunderstanding what will happen.
I have hence not upgraded to the latest version.

I did try to get information about this added dependency, but no changelogs are provided, no issues or "readmes" are available on this repo, nor the proton-vpn-daemon repo.

Great question!

There is no kernel module, it's because split tunnelling requires eBPF (you can see the source code here: https://github.com/ProtonVPN/proton-vpn-daemon/tree/stable/proton/vpn/daemon/split_tunneling)
