Suggestion Description

I was looking at https://hub.docker.com/u/rocm?page=1&search=dev and other tags available for the dev images. Take for example the ubuntu dev image at https://hub.docker.com/r/rocm/dev-ubuntu-24.04/tags.

At this point we have tags

  • 6.2 (2 months ago) (1GB)
  • 6.2-complete (2 months ago) (5GB)
  • 6.2.1-complete (21 days ago) (5GB)

6.2 and 6.2-complete points to the 6.2.0 release of ROCm.

At time of writing, the current release of ROCm is 6.2.2. This version was released approximately 3 weeks ago on 2024-09-27 according to https://rocm.docs.amd.com/en/latest/about/release-notes.html

If we look at the centos dev image, there have been no point releases performed, with the latest available version of ROCm being 6.2.0

Please consider doing the following:

  • Consistently release patch version container images. I.e. when releasing a container image for ROCm 6.2.1, release both the "slim" and "-complete" image
  • Consistently release container images for all patch versions. I.e. release all of 6.2.0, 6.2.1, and 6.2.2 in all supported OS and variants, not just some.

Context as to why I am looking into this, I am doing performance analysis of ollama on several AMD GPUs and am curious if there is a performance difference between 6.2.0, 6.2.1, 6.2.2, but currently 6.2 is the only version available without me doing some more custom builds.
