It's hard to test detect_supernova because you need a set of know images and matches.

Short-term, this Issue: Have a list of at least 10 different images and single-image templates that would work for them.
Medium-term: How to cover a rotated focal plane to get both majority overlap and minority overlap.
Long-term: Construct templates.
