That seems to be a recurring issue, seen it again and again over the years. i would clearly be more confident to use github to host this schema instead of someone else.

Good point! No real reason to have this hosted externally when GitHub Pages (and perhaps Cloudflare for caching) would suffice.

I guess you could but I don't think GitHub wants you to use the raw URLs like a CDN - that's what Pages are for.

I'm not sure theres anything we can do, seems to be an issue with how they've hosted the site, maybe an issue with a config on a recent deployment? Looking through the recent PRs into this repo doesn't show any changes around URLs.
