Hoping that you might still monitor responses on this post. I am a Crystal Report newbie, and have inherited a number of reports. I've been asked to have the date parameter on a couple of reports default to today's date. These are user run reports, so they just want not to have to type in the date. There is only a single date, no date range.

I have used your article as a guide and have created NamedDate and PayDate parameters to replace the existing Pay Date parameter in the report.

I have entered the formula as follows:

{Command.APAYDTE} in (
if not hasvalue({?NamedDate}) then
if not hasvalue ({?PayDate}) then CurrentDate
else {?PayDate}
else
if {?NamedDate} = "Today" THEN CurrentDate
else if {?NamedDate} = "Yesterday" then (CurrentDate - 1)
else if not hasvalue ({?PayDate}) then CurrentDate
else {?PayDate} )

and also the record selection formula:
{Command.APAYDTE} in ({@DateSelection_FromParameters})
{Command.APAYDTE} is the field from the database.
The main issue I have is that I get an error on the record selection formula "A date-time is required here."

Can you please suggest what action I need to take in order to satisfy the error and get the prompt to populate the date correctly? I have tried adding a date formatting formula at various points in the two formulas they have not been well received by the editor.

I've looked through your questions and tried to reason through it, but I can't wrap my head around it; it's been too long. I'm sorry I'm not able to be of better assistance!

Hi Brandon, Sorry to say I never got to the bottom of this. Seems to me there's some very obvious things that Crystal Reports does not handle! In fact, I'd completely forgotten about this question!
