Resize button does not work when sidebar is closed; expanding should open the sidebar

When the sidebar is closed in the UI, the resize button does not open the sidebar.

Expected Behavior:

• Clicking the resize/expand button when the sidebar is closed should open the sidebar.
• The resize button should allow users to expand or collapse the sidebar.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Close the sidebar in the UI.
2. Attempt to expand the sidebar using the resize button.
3. Observe that the sidebar does not open.
