Can you provide more of an explanation of what is happening on your machine? I thought it wasn't working at first, but realized that I was running Auto-GPT in a docker container. When I |

Yeah, it's pretty frustrating. Tries to use wrong commands, can't do basic tasks, produces bad json, and crashes constantly. |

Give it time. This is GH's hottest repository right now. So hot, I'm pretty sure it is causing GH outages. There was one this morning. There's a new update or issue being addressed once every minute (not kidding), so give it a couple of weeks, and you'll be fine. |

Same feedback here. Building cool stuff is fine, but then if there is no hope of translating it to a proper engineering system that runs without issues, then its already a lost cause. |

I wanted to share my recent experience with AutoGPT. I installed it a short while ago and am still exploring its mechanisms. Although I do not work in the IT field, ChatGPT has helped me immensely with the installation and finding alternatives to the errors encountered to use it effectively. I use AutoGPT with Docker, and so far, it works correctly. As for its usage, I configured the .env file by giving it the necessary permissions to access directories, execute commands, scripts, and perform various tasks on my system such as creating files, text analysis, etc. Additionally, I use it with GPT-3.5 Turbo in the .env configuration to avoid excessive consumption. |

Is this project supposed to work? The compose file is in the wrong directory and I do not use OpenAI. There doesn't seem to be any daily build through GH Actions, and the local build breaks even if you do it manually. The doc pages don't match the video instructions. Even if I wanted to do a manual install in a base terminal I certainly wouldn't run generated code in the base terminal without a sandbox and I see no mention of anything other than two shell commands. |

Hello Steve,
I understand your frustrations with installing and using AutoGPT. As a novice user, I faced similar challenges and it took me about three weeks to get it properly installed, mainly with the help of ChatGPT.
Regarding the Docker images, the ones provided with the project generally work fine. However, if you encounter issues, I recommend ensuring that you’re using a verified and up-to-date version. This might resolve some of the problems you’ve mentioned, particularly with configuration and dependencies.
If you need any assistance or would like to discuss alternative solutions, I’m happy to help !
Good luck, it’s definitely worth it once everything is set up.

Hey there!
I've been using autogpt, and I gotta say, I'm a huge fan. I think it's got amazing potential and I've been following along as a spectator and tester since day one. The only problem is, it just doesn't work! Even after spending a bunch of money on APIs, I still can't get it to do what I want - I can't even get it to create a simple text file from a basic search.
I've tried everything the forums suggested. I've installed and reinstalled it on multiple machines and folders, but the results are always the same. It's just not working for me.
I'm pretty frustrated, to be honest. I really believe in this tool, but it just hasn't lived up to its potential for me. Have you guys had any similar experiences with autogpt, or do you have any advice for getting it to work? I'd really appreciate any insights you might have.
Anyway, thanks
Take care!
