Description

Selection lost in editor after bbc button clicked.

Workaround is to re-select the text after each click. Annoying, but it works.

Steps to reproduce

1. Select text.
2. Press the bold bbc button
3. Press the italics bbc button; there is no text within the italics bbc tags

Environment (complete as necessary)

• Version/Git revision: 2.1.3
• Database Type: MySQL
• Database Version: 8.0
• PHP Version: 8.1

I just tested this and it does happen on the original sceditor site at: https://www.sceditor.com

To be more precise, it only happens when "View Source" is on, which is the default behavior of SMF.

It seems to be the intended behavior too, to deselect after clicking a button in "View Source" mode vs keeping it selected on "Full WYSIWYG" mode so I don't think there is something to actually fix here and if there is, it should be raised over at https://github.com/samclarke/SCEditor/issues since SMF does not alter the way selection works.

Hello. Yes, you're right - if we can call it a bug, then it's a bug originating from SCEditor, not from SMF 2.1 itself. However, the SMF developers mentioned in my thread that it's a minor "bug" and that it can be fixed. So I waited all this time for it to be fixed - and I recently remembered that I reported this "bug" a few years ago. I will report this issue on the SCEditor GitHub and ask the editor's author to explain why this is happening.
