A relatively new "special file", which I think is very useful for this audience: https://citation-file-format.github.io/

I would add an extra slide with this (and maybe more) in https://github.com/Simulation-Software-Engineering/Lecture-Material/blob/main/01_version_control/standards_slides.md, unless there is a better place.
