Hi everyone,
I’m running into some problems when trying to query GEDI data from SlideRule, and I’m not sure what’s causing them. Things were working fine before, but after switching to WSL/Linux this weekend, I started seeing frequent connection issues.
Sometimes I get the error "Version check failed: Failed to get response from server at sliderule.slideruleearth.io" when trying to connect to SlideRule at the very beginning. Other times, the connection works, and I can get footprints for small tiles without a problem. But when I run a loop over many grid tiles to get footprints for a larger area, the script works for a while and then suddenly stops—after that point, the returned GeoDataFrames are empty.
Based on some suggestions online, I tried checking the ping to the SlideRule server while running the code. The response I got was 100% packet loss, which (as far as I understand) means I wasn’t able to reach the server at all.
So now I’m wondering, could this issue be related to switching from Windows to WSL/Linux? Is this likely to be a network/connection problem? Has anyone seen similar behavior when querying SlideRule data? Any suggestions on how to fix or diagnose this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help!
